Circle of Renewal is thrilled to be collaborating with LGBTQ+Allies Lake County to provide a variety of wellness class and workshop offerings. All of our programming provides a safe space to find true, deep connections within community, and an opportunity to focus on personal growth, self-love and healing.

Proud & Present: Intro to Meditation & Mindfulness for adults offers an opportunity to learn how to manage stress, become more resilient, sharpen your awareness and truly live in each moment by developing a practice of mindfulness and meditation. This short and sweet two-part series will teach you about the attitudes of mindfulness and introduce you to a variety of meditation styles. 

Most importantly, it will encourage you to explore your own mind, to empower you to build an awareness of where you spend your mental time and energy, and encourage you to develop healthy mental habits that align with your life goals and desires. This two-class series will meet  for an hour and a half each. Class will be held in the park or if weather is threatening or severe class will be moved online.

Heart-Centered Empowerment Workshop Series

The Heart-Centered Empowerment Workshop Series is an opportunity to slow down, find connection, explore areas of self-growth, and come into personal alignment to live a more intentional life—all within a safe and supportive environment.


Each workshop explores a theme to empower participants with tools they can use on their own personal healing journeys.

Workshops will take place in nature. If weather is severe or threatening, the workshops will be moved online.

Full Day Retreat: Exploring Self Care & Renewal in Nature

Is the pace of life exhausting you? When you feel overwhelmed by stress it is time to pause and evaluate. This full day retreat is dedicated to creating the time and space you need for renewal and self-care. 

Tap into nature’s ability to heal and inspire as you spend a full day exploring practical, effective tools that will nourish, replenish and bring you back into your natural state of peace and balance. Invite more calm, centeredness and joy into your life as we explore a deeper connection with each other, with our own hearts and with nature. 

Research consistently shows the more time you spend outdoors and connect with nature, the more your happiness increases, to help better regulate stress.

Full Day Retreat Includes:
Full day spent outdoors
Connecting with nature through mindfulness and meditation practices

Releasing stress through gentle movement
Journaling & Self-Reflection
Connection and Safe Conversation Circle
Healthy Lunch and Snacks provided

This retreat will be held at the Metroparks Hidden Lake Shelter. This site is located on a secluded eight-acre park.

Youth Programs

Art Adventure in the Park for LGBTQ+Allies Youth: Stress Warrior Workshop

1-3 p.m.

Stress Warriors: Creating Tools for Stress Management

Using a mindful, yarn-wrapping technique, participants will create a 3-D Warrior to hold and carry worries. We will write out worries and allow our warriors to hold onto them for us.


A discussion will follow, for those who choose to share, about how the art process was for them and how it felt to give up worries.

LGBTQ+Allies Meditation for Young Minds:
Introduction to Mindfulness & Mediation Part 1

3-Week Class Series

5:30-6:45 p.m.

Our kids can thrive with the creation of a meditation and mindfulness practice. In this special 3-week series devoted specifically to kids and teens, they'll have a chance to explore the concept of mindfulness and learn various meditation styles that can help them better manage stress, become more resilient, lessen anxiety and sharpen their self-awareness.

This 3-week series will build on each session, introducing kids and teens to the attitudes of mindfulness and teaching them a variety of meditation styles and how they can incorporate them into their daily lives. For ages 9-14.

Sessions will occur three times and will meet for an hour and 15 minutes each.

If weather is severe or threatening, class will take place online.
